Our client is an established main contracting and principal contracting specialist in the fit-out sector, renowned for delivering high-quality finishes and exceptional service standards. With a strong presence in the UK our client has built a reputation for excellence across aviation, commercial, hospitality and residential property sectors. As the company continue to grow rapidly, predicting to expand from ca £5 million turnover to ca £12 million in the next year, they are focusing on building their commercial and finance departments.

They are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Finance Assistant with experience in the construction industry to join their finance team based in Uxbridge. The successful candidate will support their finance department with day-to-day financial operations, providing vital assistance to ensure smooth and efficient financial management within the company. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a strong foundation in finance, looking to build a career in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of invoices, purchase orders, and payment transactions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all documentation is properly filed and organised.
  • Support the finance team in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, ensuring all expenditures align with the allocated budgets.
  • Reconcile bank statements and financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
  • Liaise with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial forecasts and projections.
  • Participate in audits, providing necessary documentation and support to external auditors.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience working within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial analysis.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within the finance function.
