Job Title: Accounts & Payroll Assistant (part time), 12 month FTC

Salary: 29,822 per annum (pro rated to 16,120)

Location: Stansted Airport (hybrid working)

We are looking for an experienced Accounts & Payroll Assistant to join our team on a 12 month fixed term contract. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic, fast paced business.

Established more than 20 years ago, Aeropeople combines Engineering Services (Line Maintenance, CAMO and Aircraft Tool Hire) and Recruitment Solutions. Our talented Engineering Services division is based at London Stansted Airport and is made up of our both Line Maintenance and CAMO teams and combines their numerous EASA and international regulatory approvals.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives on detail; is flexible and is willing to grow with the company. You will largely work remotely Tuesday to Friday but may sometimes be required for face-to-face meetings or video calls. Our office is based on the border of Stansted Airport.

This position plays a crucial role within our company ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all of our client contractors, along with producing client invoices and monitoring/ management of aged debtors. This position involves managing & maintaining records and ensuring compliance with the relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and have a keen eye for detail and will have experience in payroll processing, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

This role is ideal for individuals who are meticulous, proactive, and passionate about contributing to an efficient payroll process within a dynamic environment.

The hours of work will be Tuesday to Friday, working 20 hours per week (ideally 5 hours per day but this is negotiable dependent on experience and work/ home life priorities).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in the accounting software. (Training will be provided)
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for internal and external use.
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage VAT returns and other tax-related responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.
  • Provide support to department heads as required.
  • Invoicing and document distribution
  • Managing your own ledger
  • Check and query/ accept incoming invoices and charges
  • Managing & monitoring accounts mailbox.
  • All client facing invoicing & query resolution
  • Escalation of any issues
  • Archive file
  • Payroll processing and Respond payroll inquiries or related matters in a professional manner.
  • Comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with external suppliers.
  • General admin duties including dealing with telephone inquiries to assist the business, as required.

About You:

- Proven experience as a bookkeeper.

- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.

- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office.

- Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to handle confidential information.

- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.

- You will be AAT qualified or ACA/ ACCA part qualified.

- Have a strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.

- You will have sound knowledge of double entry bookkeeping.

- Previous experience of a similar bookkeeper role

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to prioritise and multi-task.

- Strong general administration ability

- Some knowledge or personnel/ HR matters

- Foreign Currency payroll experience.
