About the Role:

An established accountancy firm in Barnet is seeking a meticulous and motivated Finance / Accounts Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a foundational understanding of accountancy principles who is looking to advance their career within a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial documents and reports, including ledgers, invoices, and balance sheets.
  • Support with the processing of invoices, receipts, and payments, ensuring accurate and timely entries.
  • Assist with reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and update databases as needed.
  • Help prepare financial statements and reports under the guidance of senior accountants.
  • Communicate with clients to address basic inquiries regarding billing or payments.
  • Work closely with team members to support audits and end-of-year financial processes.
  • Handle ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as required to ensure smooth office operations.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Minimum of 12 months commercial experience in a finance-related role or a degree in Accounting and Finance.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Basic understanding of accountancy principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, calculations, and basic analysis.
    • Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks is advantageous but not essential.
  • Attributes:
    • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, both in writing and verbally.
    • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
