About us

Avencia Consulting are recruiting on behalf of a well known Insurer who are looking to hire an FP&A Accountant to join on a permanent basis.

The role

Reporting to the Group FP&A Manager, the Group FP&A Accountant and associated team are responsible for driving delivery of all aspects of financial planning and analysis for the Group.

Key accountabilities

  • Assist in the development of annual forecasts and long-term financial plans.
  • Liaising with underwriters on premium planning and monitoring actual vs benchmark.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior management.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial board materials.
  • Driving the enhancement and development of MI to support the business.
  • Playing a key role in further development of the planning and analysis system
  • Supporting the Group FP&A Manager in all aspects of the Group financial planning and forecasting processes, including legal entities.
  • Influencing internal audit controls.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather relevant financial information and provide insights to support business decisions.
  • Development of key analysis models to help inform decision making.
  • Involvement in additional finance projects as required.

Skills & experience

  • University Degree and a professional accounting qualification (CIMA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Experience with (re)insurance preferred
  • Experience with Anaplan and Power BI preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications, including robust Excel skills
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and within a small team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial data to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Able to deliver accurate and thoughtful work within tight deadlines
