Role & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the Forvis Mazars Private Client team for the South Coast, delivering high quality private client tax advice and compliance services.
  • Support with strategy, budget setting and monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with both existing and new clients, providing excellent client service and identifying opportunities to support them further.
  • Work collaboratively with other service lines within the Poole office to go to market and successfully target and win high net worth individuals and large Privately Owned Businesses.
  • Actively participate in business development activities, including attending local South Coast events (e.g. Dorset Chamber events), presenting to clients during internal / external events and webinars, writing thought leadership content, and identifying opportunities to grow the Mazars Private Client team. This will include onboarding clients efficiently and effectively as / when new client assignments are won.
  • Build relationships with intermediaries and a referral network to win new clients.
  • Identify and manage tax risk within the private client portfolio, including following the necessary quality and risk procedures, across the South Coast.
  • Support the wider National private client tax teams in relation to complex issues arising across the team.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and communicate the impact of these changes to clients and colleagues (where appropriate).
  • Lead in driving forward learning and development for the Poole tax team. Mentoring, training, support and work delegation to team members.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal (tax methodology and risk management) and external (regulatory) requirements.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Holds relevant professional qualification - CTA or similar
  • A substantive, proven track record of building internal and external relationships and networks
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively impact and influence others
  • Demonstrates broad and strong technical tax knowledge and expertise.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to think creatively, generate innovative ideas, develop new initiatives and methodologies.
  • Provides assistance, shares experience, provides meaningful feedback and proactively supports the development of others.
  • Takes ownership of projects, effectively delegates to others within the team and takes responsibility for quality control.
  • Broad experience of managing the financials on clients and adjusting the approach to advisory work depending on the budget.
  • Experience of identifying opportunities for business development on tax clients and across other service lines.
  • Proficiency with personal tax on CCH Central would be an advantage
