The Role

We are seeking a strategic leader to oversee our commercial development activities and shape the future of our product portfolio.

The role of General Manager - Commercial Development will take ownership of all commercial activities related to the development and management of Volkswagen Financial Services UK (VWFS) products, services, and digital assets. This pivotal role involves leading the analysis, evaluation, and governance of the UK product portfolio, ensuring new and existing products meet business targets and regulatory standards while delivering exceptional value to customers.

As a senior leader, you will collaborate across multiple business areas and with key stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions, drive performance, and manage the end-to-end development and management of our product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of decision-grade business cases and financial models to validate the commercial opportunities of new products and services.
• Identify opportunities to innovate and enhance the existing product portfolio using customer research, industry insights, and data-driven analysis.
• Manage the Commercial Development Team to provide strategic support for product and commercial activities.
• Monitor product performance through detailed analysis and make data-driven recommendations to drive improvements.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to design and deliver industry-leading products and services aligned with VWFS UK's strategic objectives.
• Govern the New Product Process (NPP), ensuring compliance with regulatory and headquarters standards for all new and existing products.
• Act as a strategic partner to internal teams, brands, and retailers to align product strategies with market needs and commercial goals.
• Ensure all product development activities adhere to local and international regulatory and legislative requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in a senior management role within financial services, automotive finance, or a related sector.
• Strong knowledge of financial services operations, compliance frameworks (e.g., FCA regulations), and the automotive industry.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate quantitative data and develop strategic recommendations.
• Demonstrated success in presenting and influencing at board level and across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Experience working in complex, highly regulated environments
• Proven people management experience
