Project Accountants enjoy the variety involved in working on a project or a number of projects for companies or organisations. The nature of the role means that many Project Accountants work as contractors, although large organisations have in house Project Accountants.
Project Accountants enjoy the variety involved in working on a project or a number of projects for companies or organisations. The nature of the role means that many Project Accountants work as contractors, although large organisations have in house Project Accountants.
Project Accountants work on project teams and produce the financial accounts for these projects, managing costs to ensure that they stay on budget. Project accountants may also be involved in the implementation of new financial systems and processes.
Typical duties include:
Providing financial support and advice to project teams and managers.
Preparing regular project management accounts with particular focus on costs.
Analysing and reporting upon project KPIs.
Managing and minimising project risk.
Providing financial information and advice to aid decision making.
Project Accountants must enjoy working in a variety of locations and with a variety of colleagues, including many non financial managers.
Qualifications
Project Accountants are usually part or fully qualified accountants, having studied with one of the major accounting institutions.
